Solera Costera is a barrel aged New England Rum, created using an old-world aging process called solera aging. Solera aging utilizes a continual blending technique, by which only a portion of each batch is harvested for bottling, while the remainder is returned to the barrels to “teach” the younger spirit how to properly age. Our coastal location provides a unique climate for aging, with seasonal temperature swings and sea breezes. Through this ebb and flow the American oak barrels swell and contract, drawing the spirit into and out of it pores, enhancing it with the oak, vanilla, and caramel character of the barrel.
